Engagement Profile: Jon and Kara
How did the two of you meet? Tell us about your first date.
Interestingly enough, we met at Kara’s brother’s wedding. We noticed each other at the reception and then met up downtown afterwards. We danced at 90s Bar, chatted at the post-wedding brunch the next day, and the rest is history! We were both pretty smitten right from the start.
How did he/she propose? Did you know it was coming?
I (Kara) may be biased, but this is the best proposal story of all time, so the answer to this question can’t be short! I was absolutely shocked that Jon proposed on the day he did. I was thinking it would come three months later on my 30th birthday trip.
Jon got me out to Oconee under some false pretenses- that Jackson (our black lab who has been known to escape a time or two) had gone missing after he took him out to run off leash on some land his parents own. When I got out to their land, there was a note on the back of Jon’s car saying, “I lied. Jackson is fine. Follow the luminaries, read the notes along the way, and I’ll meet up with you along the way.” After the initial shock that Jackson was fine, and something awesome was actually happening, I was ecstatic. The sun was setting and he had a path of luminaries through the woods with sweet notes. At the end of the path, he and our two dogs were standing under lights strung through the trees. He gave me three final notes, one from each dog and he got on one knee with the final note from him. Jon knew it was important to me that we design the ring together, so he proposed with a diamond pendant that his father gave his mother 30 years ago. We both burst into happy tears as I said yes, of course!
When did you know that he/she was “the one”?
There are so many different moments, too many to list and explain!
How did you hear about T.K. Anderson Designs?
Jon’s family has been using T.K. Anderson for years and we wouldn’t even think about going anywhere else!
What was your favorite part about working with the T.K. Anderson team?
We absolutely loved the personalized attention Wes was able to give us in the design process. His use of CAD was so helpful in visualizing the final outcome. Keith’s custom work and attention to detail made all the difference and we could not be happier with the way this one-of-a-kind ring came together.
Bride, what do you like most about your new ring?
I love the history in this ring. I’m so happy to be able to use a diamond that his father gave his mother and turn it into a ring that is so special for me and Jon. He and I worked together to visualize a perfect engagement ring for me. As always, when I was waffling about which way we should go with the ring, Jon brought clarity and certainty to the decision like no one else can with me.
What are you most excited for in your future together?
Adventure! We compliment each other so well and we’ve developed such a strong bond over the last 5 years. Our adventures together keep things exciting and our ability to travel well together is such a testament to our relationship. We can’t wait to see how we grow together in marriage!
